Half trusses

With a conventional pitched roof, the truss is usually symmetrical with the principal rafters meeting at the apex of the triangle above the centre line of the tie beam at a height determined by the pitch.

A mono pitch or “lean to” style roof requires a different solution – a half truss, where the principal rafter still needs to be supported by a post and strut or queen post.

These ones are heading off across the water to the Isle of Wight in a few days.
